How to Find a Reasonable Used Car Price in a Bear Market

A good used car price in today’s market place seems too hard to find. Since the melt down of 2008 more people are keeping their cars and this has contributed to a shortage of used cars for sale. Prices have sky rocketed to the point where it makes more sense to buy a new car or suv. Also the fact that rental companies are keeping their vehicles longer has been another factor to consider. Below are just a few things to do when trying to find a great price for a used car.
1- As Canadian’s we now have a dollar that is practically at parity with the U.S. greenback. This now has given us better buying power south of the border to buy used vehicles for thousands of dollars less than what we pay up here. A used car price is a lot cheaper south of the border.
2- You might want to look at vehicles that are no longer being made due to the financial fiasco of 2008. Since these cars and trucks will no longer be produced, this will only have a negative effect on their prices. Prices for these vehicles will only drop.
3- Look for used cars or trucks that have not been effect by the rising cost of the used market place. SUV’s might be a place to look for due to the fact that gas prices will only rise and these vehicles will be harder to sell.
4- Take a look at vehicles that are practical, you might want to narrow your search for vehicles that are on the market and readily available to buy.
