When Should You Buy The Vehicle That You Really Want

For quite some time now i give alot of free automotive purchasing tips in person and on my websites. One of the most frequently asked questions that people ask me is when should i buy a vehicle. Well, everybody’s situation is different but i’m going to try to answer this question in the most general way possible. There are those people who believe that the best time to purchase a vehicle is in the fall. Mainly because that’s when most of the new cars start replacing the older model cars. So alot of dealers come up with these special deals to get the cars off the lot quickly. Now here’s the bad part about that. For example, lets say that the car you want to buy now has a great deal attached to it where you can possibly save 00, or 00 dollars. But is it really that simple? Everyone knows that the second the car leaves the lot it depreciates in value. This is because from that moment on the car is considered a used vehicle. So back to the example. You wait 12 months basically to run down to the dealership to get the automobile you want because the rebate is higher than usual. There’s excitement in the air because the current year model cars are on sale and the newer year model cars are hitting the lot.

Now if you’re new to car buying, here’s just a quick fact. If you buy that 2010 model automobile for example, that vehicle would be considered 1 year old. Even though it’s 2010 and the car never left the lot. So that drastically affects the trade in value. Ok, now lets compare the chances of getting a good deal during different times of the year. Alot of drivers think thats it’s better to wait til the summer to buy a vehicle. It all depends on where you stay and just how many cars the dealer is selling overall. During economic times like the one we’re currently in, most dealers are willing to take a hit on profits to sell a customer a car. That’s because it’s better for them to make atleast some type of profit instead of just letting the vehicle continue to sit there on the lot. The internet is a great resource for figuring out when the best time to buy a vehicle as well. Lots of people, if they really get a good deal, they will post it online on there blog or on a public forum. You can than find out how much they saved and what negotiation methods they used to get the car at the price they wanted.

Another tip for vehicle buying timing is to wait til the end of the month if you can. This is because most dealers have a quota to meet each month and on the 30th, they will be just a bit more willing to negotiate a good deal with you. This method can also work on the first of the month as well. ALot of dealers would want to start the month of on a good note so they may want to get alot more cars off the lot to start with. So, in conclusion, in regards to the orginal question (when is the best time to buy?), I would say the quick answer is basically whenever you are fully ready to buy. Meaning, once you’ve done all your research on the car you want and once you have checked out all the reviews and seen all the videos and checked out what other people have paid for the same make and model, then you will be fully ready to purchase and you wont have any regrets.
